New Stoeger M2000 Turkey/Coyote
« on: March 17, 2012, 10:51:32 AM »
Well after reading and hearing good things about them I bought one this morning. I have been wanting a nice lightweight shotgun to use for predator calling. I have been packing my bps and with 2 guns it has been a bit much as long as it is and as heavy as it is. So I started looking for a new shotgun a few months ago. I have not wanted to spend the big dollars for a fancy semi auto. I just wanted one that will go bang. I also wanted one with a pistol grip. The problem was most of those are home security and don't use chokes. I found this m2000 on gunbroker awhile ago. The seller has been knocking it down 25.00 at a time and re-listing it. The gun lists at 600.00 on there web site. He had started it at 525.00 well I bought it a few Min's ago from him for 399.99 :IBCOOL: Brand new in box and I guess they come with 5 chokes as well. It comes in at only 6.7lbs and it has the 24" longer barrel! I will probably get a new choke for it unless the factory xfull shoots well with 4 buck and oobuck.

Anyways here is a pic of it and I will do a write up later on about it once I have put it threw the paces

I'll be curious to hear how that extra full works out with buckshot. I would actually think you'd want a more open choke for better patterns with big shot like that, especially the 00. I would suggest if the extra full doesn't pattern well, try the improved cylinder and the modified and see how they do. In fact you might want to start with the more open choke and work your way up. I knoq I got 90% patterns at 30 yards with T shot, with an improved cylinder choke out of my 870. But that is steel shot so that may be different.

Anyway, looks like you got the perfect shotgun for coyotes. I use a Browning turkey gun for  coyotes and it works well with the camo finish and the 24 inch barrel.

Yeah each gun is a little different with chokes and shot. I run my browning bps with my super full primose jelly head and 4 buck and 00buck. You point dare point and shoot with it you really have to aim on the close ones. I have shot yotes between 60-70 yards with that shotgun and 4 buck and 00buck. I will play with loads and well when I get it to see what combo of choke and shot it likes. I use to have a bunch of lead bb's. I love lead for yotes! I have killed more then a few with bbb 3.5 mags with steel shot. It still just does not hit the same as the lead.

I think it is going to be a great gun for what I am wanting it for. I don't know if it will out pattern the bps for say turkey hunting but I will put them head to head to see what runs better. I can only run up to 3" in this gun. 3.5 in my bps. All my 4 buck and 00buck is 3" anyways so that's fine but the 3.5's for turkeys is the ticket :IBCOOL:
