Want to try my hand at bow fishing carp. Used to hunt frogs as a kid. I have a boat and a canoe. I live in Graham (Pierce County), anywhere closer than Lake Washington? WDFW wasn't much help, said go East. Any help MUCH appreciated!

you can try lake tapps there is some decent spots if you can find them but wait for it to get alittle warmer and head over to moses lake or in the potholes and you will have a great time tapps will be slow even at the peak of the spawn i have shoot more in a hour in moses than i have in a day on tapps

Tapps as mentioned earler.  I haven't been there in years but Black Lake in Tumwater used to be good.

Way back in the day we used to bowfish out of a canoe quite a bit.  You will want to make yourself some outriggers or you'll spend more time picking your gear off the bottom of the lake than you will be shooting carp.  The best we found was to use the big foam pontoons like they use making docks.  No need to mount it to the canoe.  If you make it right you can just set it on the rails.

The attached picture is almost exactly like what we used.  I just grabbed this pic from Bing Images on a "bowfishing canoe" search.
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

Shooting on tapps is frowned upon. People that live on the lake call the cops when they see lights, but nothing is illegal, the cops just say dont shine on the shore too much, nothing they can do. Not very good tho as far as success rate, lots of stumps logs =lost arrows
