They can crack or split near the nock and that will loosen them up and cause them to fall off.

I have some and I loved the way they shoot.  For a few years I carried one in my quiver hoping for a gimmee 20 yard shot so I could see how they work in the woods.  I still have not shot one at an animal.  Though I have had many gimmee shots, I can't bring myself to go away from my blazers.  If nothing else they make for a great conversation piece when you come accross other hunters.
