Samick Sage Takedown?
« on: April 09, 2012, 04:26:15 PM »
Thinking about getting back into shooting. Never really used a compound. Have my dads old 1953 Bear recurve that I would like to take an animal with but I've been having some shoulder problems. The Bear is a 57# @ 28" and I think I would like to start out some what lighter and work back up. I see the Samick Sage listed at a pretty good price and the reviews look really good. Anyone using these? Thanks

Limbs are great.  Riser not so much.  But, for the price it is one of the better bargains out there in traditional bows.  Never known anyone to be disappointed they bought one.  Though I do know a few that were surprised at how well it shot for the price.  Hard to go wrong for $130.00.

Only problem is you would have to spend time on ArcheryTalk :yike:

They are a decent bow. I would really check out the hoyt dorado or game master II. You can find them used for about 350 and they are a great bow. I love mine.

Ain't that the truth!  WE call the trad forum over there (AT) Argumentative Traditional forum.  I much prefer Tradtalk...... or tradgang.

If you don';t mind spending a few extra bucks to upgrade I'd go with a TT titan and decent limbs.... or the pinnacle... you can see the Tradtech risers here:
http://www.tradtecharchery.com/bows/tradtech-ilf-traditional-bows-1.html
the limbs here:
http://www.tradtecharchery.com/bows/tradtech-ilf-traditional-bows-1/ilf-take-down-limbs.html?

Black max limbs are a good deal, I prefer the BF extremes but they are pretty expensive

I bought a samick sage last fall, hunted with it late season, and shot a 3-d shoot with it a little while back.. I'm happy with it. shoots good. bought mine from 3-rivers archery.

Well I ordered a bow today.  I decided not to go with the Samick Sage.  I ordered a Greatree  Ridgefire . Bowhunters superstore had them for 147.00. 60" 50#.  Here is a link.  Not where I bought it but a better description.  I will probably be asking a lot of questions about the extra's I will need now.  Thanks for all the input.
