Turkeys and Rattlers
« on: April 13, 2012, 11:53:54 AM »
Just a heads up for everybody hitting the hills this weekend, as was the turkeys and ticks thread.  I had a close encounter this week with a big aggressive rattlesnake while scouting for turkeys.  This is the earliest I've seen one out other than going to dens.  Thank God he decided to make noise, or I would have stepped right on him while hiking though the grass.  He was extremely aggressive for this time of the year, especially with the mild spring we've had.  This won't deter me one bit, but just beware of the possibility of an encounter.  Good luck.

I stepped on one rattler yesterday and found another one. Both were near den sites, but weren't as slow as I like them to be.

No need to worry about rattlesnakes.

Heck, some people enjoy sleeping with them:
