Took a trip down the Hoh last thursday and what a day. right off the bat I had a mid teens slightly booted fish sink my bobber and put up the tipical native battle. From there we had the plug rods hammered 3 times and only one stayed hooked up long enouf to get the rod out of the holder. It amazes me the rod can go off like that and turn up empty but when the hooks are barbless i guess thats what happens. I ennded having my bobber go down 3 more times resulting in 1 bright hen that went on a few smokin hot runs before i could coax her to the bank for a pic. 1 bright fish that did a great job of acting like a bird before it spit the hook and a heavy feeling fish that only gave me a few head shakes. All in all it was a great day. Steelheading is a blast but getting out there after the natives for some awsome catch and release is where its at. I will follow up tomarrow with a couple pics.

its too bad that fisherey has gone so sour ,i dont mind releaseing fish but i do like to keep some  especially since gas is over 4 bucks a gallon.its fun to have a steely on.thats the way it always was in the good ol days there was no thing such as hatcherey runs.one thing i know for sure is a steel head native or wild fight just as hard there is no differnce thats a fact.i have reeled in nates that swam all day and were trying to rest you hook a hatcherey that has rested and it will smoke your reel and the bearings will fall out .
