got these two about a second apart one at 30 yards and one at 58 yards yes 58 yards laser confirmed could not believe i made the shot and jelly headed him with a 3inch #4 winchester X with my 870 and just a full choke.... also picked up a hitch hiker i met 2 years ago think i can use him for carpool on the ride back

Correct on both, but more so on the follow up 58 yard shot.  Both legal so not a problem that way.  Everyone's choice whether to buy into the "kill em all" regulations that WDFW turkey managers put out there for us.  That two in one day does nothing more than to put turkey hunters into a mode that ends up crippling and wounding birds.  Those birds which are lost unnecessarily might have been someone's memories.

Squeege....not trying to rain on your success.  Just merely trying to point out that there is more to turkey hunting than killing birds.  Either one of those birds by itself in a photo with you would be a trophy.  The next day taking the other bird would have been another memorable hunt, whether you harvested it or not.  I guess I still question just what is considered successful turkey hunting.  Is it harvesting a bird or harvesting two birds at once.  Personally a good day in the field is success to me whether I kill one or not.  Every turkey day is a learning experience to be cherished.

I prefer the old system.  One bird a day, with it being a Rio, Merriam or Eastern.  Double birds in the same area does nothing, more than artificially put additional pressure on the existing Gobblers.  That is not nearly as bad as killing multiple mature hens during the fall and winter.

I'm sure I'll be flamed, but you just have to throw it out there sometime.  A 58 yard shot is not, I repeat, not turkey hunting.  Enough said.

Again congratulations on both birds.  Please don't take offense, as my comments are only food for thought.  We as turkey hunters need to be wary of regulations that are intended to get rid of birds, not enhance them for our future.  Our actions speak much louder than anything else we do.

That is true and in fact you can harvest two birds in one day in units that allow for 2 birds to be harvested. The regs do state that you must immediately notch your tag upon harvesting a bird. I guess shooting one bird and then shooting a second bird without notching your tag first could be looked down upon by others.

I was just trying to speculate on the comment that he made. I think what you did is legal, but a  game warden might not have the same opinion since you didnt properly tag your first bird before harvesting the second bird.
