got these two about a second apart one at 30 yards and one at 58 yards yes 58 yards laser confirmed could not believe i made the shot and jelly headed him with a 3inch #4 winchester X with my 870 and just a full choke.... also picked up a hitch hiker i met 2 years ago think i can use him for carpool on the ride back

thanks oh and the one on the left had a 10.5 beard and 3/4in spurs the other little 2inch beard and 1/2in spurs

I think he is probably referring to shooting two birds in one day and taking a 58 yard shot on the second bird.

Correct on both, but more so on the follow up 58 yard shot. Both legal so not a problem that way. Everyone's choice whether to buy into the "kill em all" regulations that WDFW turkey managers put out there for us. That two in one day does nothing more than to put turkey hunters into a mode that ends up crippling and wounding birds. Those birds which are lost unnecessarily might have been someone's memories.

Squeege....not trying to rain on your success. Just merely trying to point out that there is more to turkey hunting than killing birds. Either one of those birds by itself in a photo with you would be a trophy. The next day taking the other bird would have been another memorable hunt, whether you harvested it or not. I guess I still question just what is considered successful turkey hunting. Is it harvesting a bird or harvesting two birds at once. Personally a good day in the field is success to me whether I kill one or not. Every turkey day is a learning experience to be cherished.

I prefer the old system. One bird a day, with it being a Rio, Merriam or Eastern. Double birds in the same area does nothing, more than artificially put additional pressure on the existing Gobblers. That is not nearly as bad as killing multiple mature hens during the fall and winter.

I'm sure I'll be flamed, but you just have to throw it out there sometime. A 58 yard shot is not, I repeat, not turkey hunting. Enough said.

Again congratulations on both birds. Please don't take offense, as my comments are only food for thought. We as turkey hunters need to be wary of regulations that are intended to get rid of birds, not enhance them for our future. Our actions speak much louder than anything else we do.

That is true and in fact you can harvest two birds in one day in units that allow for 2 birds to be harvested. The regs do state that you must immediately notch your tag upon harvesting a bird. I guess shooting one bird and then shooting a second bird without notching your tag first could be looked down upon by others.

I was just trying to speculate on the comment that he made. I think what you did is legal, but a game warden might not have the same opinion since you didnt properly tag your first bird before harvesting the second bird.

crazy ... I guess we all have our own opinion on how to harvest a turkey ... as long as your playing by the rules set then all is good ... Me personally , if I can not call a bird to me then he walks ... thats just the way I was raised ...its all about calling for me ... I can have just of a good of time just watching turkeys and doing what turkeys do ...everyone needs to realize that the majority of the birds killed in Washington are drive by shootings ...if thats your forteit then have at it as long as everything your doing is legal ....as far as pulling a 50 yrd shot thats a little on the far side but if a bird is in an open field you may think he is alot closer than he really is ....thats why its good to place your decoy at 25 to 30 yrds then you know exactely where he is !!!

well its all in ones opinion and i stalked those birds for two days before i could get close enough to them because they would not talk after they came out of the roost and they where both at about 25 yard until i drew and shot the first one both birds were taken with a single shot each and if a game warden wants to argue over a 15 second laps in tagging then i will pay the fine the playing the what if doesnt work for me i had two tags i got two birds and there are still 3 toms out there to take care of the hens. and i have been skunked many a times and had a great time doing it.

its all good man ... like ya said its your opinion on how you want to run .... Its called hunting ..and it takes alot of woodsmenship for someone to stalk up on a turkey ....My biggest complaint of all is guys blowing them off the roost NOW THAT WILL SERIOUSLY P--- me off !!!!

Just for clarification I talked to the game wardens at cabelas today and everything I did was legal as far as tagging the birds

dude ...quit worrying about it ....I was checked the 1st day ...never ever seen checked hunting turkeys.. She sat by my truck for over an hour waiting for us to come out .

and the funny thing is that we never signed our license ...she was actually pretty cool about it

she just handed us a pen and said sign it ....
