mounting a scope on my 91/30 mosin-nagant
« on: April 18, 2012, 05:32:45 PM »
does anyone have advice on mounting a scope on a 91/30 mosin nagant. i do not want to put an ATI mount on there as the reviews i keep reading online are horrible. i would like to put a PU scope on there also but have no idea where i should go or what gunsmith in the area is not going to take advantage of me and charge an arm and leg just to drill a side mount and put the install in on a 100$ gun.

Have you looked at any of the scout type setups that mount in place of your rear sight? There are a ton of them around.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

Everything you could want to know!

https://www.google.com/search?client=opera&rls=en&q=m91/30+scout+scope&sourceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

ebay and Amazon are both full of listings for the parts and kits to put a scout scope on your Mosin, I was thinking about getting one for mine as well.

I made my own out of aluminum. I milled it to fit the gun receiver and it's also attached to the rear sight. I'll attach a picture. If you want details feel free to email me at davidjstiles@comcast.net. It cost me less than $10 and is as strong as the one from Rock Solid.

Looks nice!  I shot a deer with mine back in WI a bunch of years back, just used the open sights though for the 11 yard shot.   :chuckle:  They are nice, soft recoiling guns but the safety sucks.
