First time turkey hunting help please

Next saturday i am going out with some buddies turkey hunting for the first time. I dont want to spend a lot of money on a call so what would be a good call to get and what sound am i looking for? femal noise.? i also heared of a crow or owl noise one of the two gets them to cluck. Some help please. O ya over by ellensburg

Get a box. Quick learning curve and very versatile. Crow and owls are used for shock calls, the box can do the same thing.

I agree ...just learning .. get a box call or slate call ...the easiest of the 2 to learn quick ..watch a few hunting this weekend and listen to the sounds your trying to make ... I am sure there are a few on this weekend !

I think promos makes a good starter pack you can buy w everything you need to start out.  :twocents:

Yeah, get a box call. But get a video also to learn the cadence and volumes and when to do what calls. learning to make the sounds is pretty easy but knowing when and how to use them is the key. Good luck! you'll be hooked.  :tup:
