too early for crawdads?
« on: April 30, 2012, 03:01:30 AM »
i havent been to my favorite crawdad spot lately, and ive never went for em this time of year, but because the season is open now, and ive been itchin to make some etouffe, im figurin its time to go up to the lake...

but i am also thinking they arent active yet and the waters too cold for em to be out

any thoughts?
catch it. kill it. cook it. eat it.
Forget the bear spray, use wasp killer. Concentrated delivery stream, 10X the product, and only $3.00 on sale.

I smoke two fish in the morning, I smoke two fish at night, I smoke two fish in de afternoon makes me feel alright

Is there something else in the area to make an excuse to do? Or if it isn't too far then why not? I would think its slightly to early   :dunno:

I thought the season didn't open until the 1st Monday in May?  I would hate to hear you got a ticket.  Check the reg's to be sure.   And I think that unless your getting them in LK. Washington, its a bit early.  :twocents:

some *censored* stole my traps last year

don't ever use a bleach bottle or some floaty device to mark them.

I hide them things now, use green paracord and tie it off to shore under some rocks or junk to hide the line.

or if in the flats I'll tie off two traps to one another a good ways apart and use a grapple to get the line in the middle

My sons and I watched a guy on Moses Lake pull my trap and then we confronted him. He said he was just seeing if there was anything in there..... I was pissed but had to set a good example in front of the kids. I just let him know that he could go to jail for messing with someones traps. If it was 100 years ago he would have been shot.
