More Wolf tracks? (this time inside joe watt ) pics
« on: May 01, 2012, 11:41:46 PM »
So I was turkey hunting and shed hunting today inside the joe watt.  The gates opened up today  :IBCOOL:

Anyway I was walking along and I found these tracks in the mud.  So here's the thing.  People haven't been in the joe watt area for months.  It opened to the public literally today.  Judging by the needles in the tracks, I would say these tracks are from at least a few days ago.  Meaning there is no possibility of these being domestic dog tracks.  Aren't they too big for coyote?  They look to measure about 3.5 inches long by 3.5 inches wide.

Shell used for judgement is a 20 gauge 3 inch magnum.

could be a big yote,a wolf track will be as big as your hand..all the way to the end of your finger tips.
could also be small wolf.

It looks pretty small for a wolf track.  Could be a jumbo coyote- in the soft mud it could have slipped some and be pressed in and appear larger too...not sure.

Well shoot.  If its a jumbo coyote, I think it's time for a yote hunt!

Looks like it's a yote that slid in the mud making the track appear larger then it really is...

If I cant cover a track with my fist I usually say its a wolf track. Those tracks in between are hard to tell the difference. I did see my first washington wolf tracks this sheddin season tho.
