I have been fitting the sparrow cans around here, and they seem to be popular.  I am thinking for a 22lr....is there a better choice? I guess if I were to open a shop it could suddenly become a "write off"....lol, but the cost of the stamp, or rather the label "tax stamp" has always freaked me out.

Whoops, no experience with the sparrow brand.  I have a few Thunderbeast cans from 22LR to 30 cal, a Yankee Hill Machine and a Gemtech.  For a 22LR can, they are all pretty good.  I think the YHM are the cheapest, but they still work great.

The tax stamps aren't bad, it just takes forever.  6-8 months seems to be the going lead time right now with ATF for approval.  I am a SOT manufacturer and it still takes them 2 months to get approval for suppressors to get sent to me from other manufacturers.

GemTech makes excellent .22 LR "Suppressors". Never understood the "Silencer" thing. They suppress noise but by no means silence it.

Are there any that work really well for both a 22lr and something like a .223? Is there some kind of thing that is important for  matching the ammount of expanding gas? I wouild imagine if you bought one for an AR it would work fine for a 22lr?

I target shoot, varmint shoot, hunt and match shoot with my suppressors.
As Travis said, the biggest problem is the wait on the feds.
Other than that, they are worse than potato chips, can't just stop at 1... or 2..

Would you think a can on the end of a 20" barrel would bee too cumbersome for shooting with your AR doing anything other than target shooting?

Are they fairly light?  Do you notice them much?  I've got a Ruger Mark III 22/45 with threaded barrel, and I'm about to pull the trigger on getting a stamp.

I have this exact setup.Makes less niose than my pellet rifle. The alluninum cans are very lite and even the steel doesn't make much of a difference on the gun.
