Youth Only Lake
« on: May 06, 2012, 09:46:06 PM »
I live near Graham Wa and I have noticed something that has got me thinking. I took my boy to Bradley lake in Pierce county and what a pain. Its the perfect lake to take kids to so they can have a good time fishing but there is always so many people there untill it gets fished out. I would love to see this lake a Youth only lake! I dont know how to get the game department on board with this idea. Maybee a patition? How many of the people on this site would be on board with this? If anyone knows a good way to get something across to the game department let me know. I really want to try something so there is a place we can take our kids without having the combat with the adults that think its ok to catch a couple limts in a day.

That is a great idea.  I believe there is a kids only lake in Centralia (Fort Borst).  I remember one I fished over by Yakima when I was kid.  So, there are some around; it would be worth contacting someone at WDFW and see what you need to do to get it changed to youth only.
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

Wapato lake in Tacoma is a youth only lake.  It does not get allot of attention, but I have seen some monsters pulled out of there.
There's a reason they call it hunting, not killing.

Right on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fishing is all my boy has been talking about since the opener. He seems to go more than I know and he catches some big fish in wierd scenarios. The imagination of a 4 year old is priceless. I have more fun taking and watching him fish then I do fishing myself.

Pond in Eatonville park next to mashel river is juvi only too. Very small, more like puddle that you  can cast across, but good for small kids. fishes out fast.

Fort Borst s a good one.  I'm taking my youngest, niece and nephew there Saturday morning.  The only problem is all the illegals catching buckets full of fish and running them up to their rig.

I haven't heard of juvenile only lakes in Lacey and I grew up fishing all the lakes around there. :dunno:  Definitely not Long Lake though.
