Hunt low, and be prepared for snow!

Good luck.

Good luck. The hunt used to be a good one about 4 years ago.  I had the muzzy tag 3 years ago.  Saw lots of deer but only one worthy of pulling the trigger on.  So if you see a good buck during regular season don't hold out for alta.  I could have shot several good bucks around the house.  Get over there this summer and find some access to the state land off of old twisp carlton road.  Booth canyon holds some good bucks.  I think the wolves over there have the numbers down.
Happiness is being in the woods!!!

I had the Tag last yr. I'm not gonna say there isn't any big Bucks in there but I've been hunting Alta for 30 yrs & its the worse I've ever seen it personally. The best Buck I saw was a Huge 3pt that I let walk. I saw a lot of mediocre 2x3, 3x4 type of Bucks that I wasn't interested in so I ate my Tag & let the Wolves & Cats have them. Sorry for being a downer but thats the way it is. Throw me a P.M if you want info.

I had this tag twice, 2009 and 2011.  This is not a gimmie.  I would not consider this a quailty tag unless the snow is perfect and there is no fog.  I was one of the lucky ones to fill a tag.  Lots of great area to hunt.

IF you are lucky enough to get a significant amount of snow BoomWhop is right, the fog can really be a problem with that tag.

Have you ever heard of the "lookout" pack? Right there in Alta, but you shouldn't have to worry about them since there are only two wolves in that pack anyway.

 Good luck
