:yeah: still cant really figure out how to set the way points on it (havent tried to hard). It will only take you in a straight line as well, so for me that doesnt really help at all. However, the one way point my dad recorded was on his front porch back home and it still points in that direction and tells me im 900 and somethin miles away :chuckle: The few useful thing I like about it is the temperature and elevation reading, also as a compass. So I still pack it around for the those 3 uses.

I think the one I have is a backtracker? Maybe the backtrack is different :dunno: I don't use a gps very often because I can find my way out of most area's I hunt. I have used it a few times when elk hunting and getting back into a area I don't know. It has always worked good for me.

It's not a true "GPS" as we now know them.  It marks up to 3 waypoints, and tells you the distance to them from where ever you turn it on.  I've had one for 2 years now, and I've never failed to get a signal or has it ever been off.  I simply turn it on at the truck, mark the truck (it even has a handy-dandy icon for a vehicle on it), then turn it off.  If I get somewhere I'm not sure of, I turn it on and it tells me where my truck is.  It's as simple as a lensatic compass, but is able to tell you how far you are from where you started from.

I found it very easy to use. Because it is simple and convenient, I find myself using it more frequently (which isn't often) than my real GPS. Mostly, if I want a straight line back to my truck or camp instead of hitting a road somewhere and walking the road back. One note, when I first received it as a gift, being the skeptic that I was, I tested it out in my car. It does not update fast enough in a vehicle, however, at walking speed it was just fine. Also, my model is a few years old so I can't vouch for the newer ones.
