Help on air rifle info...
«

I want to buy a good quality air rifle . Some input would be appreciated. I have fond memories of a sheridan that my uncle had when I was growing up. I am sure the tech has come a long way since then... Thanks.

The Sheridan/Benjamin pump rifles are always nice, definitely classics.
I prefer the Gamo or similar break action spring rifles because you don't have to pump them and they have some really high FPS numbers, I have one that you can switch barrels from .177 to .22, the .22 really knocks the crap out of starlings.
I had a Benjamin pump that was .20 if I remember right, kind of an odd caliber but it was the perfect size for an air rifle in my opinion.

They have a cheaper version at wal-mart that is alot lighter than this one but it feels cheap comparatively.

Nitro Piston is the way to go spring guns are very loud compared to NP. Also NP has alot less recoil so you can see your shots more often

i heard GAMO were all built in the US, while most others aren't. RWS is obviously still a great choice, but if i was going to buy one, I really like the GAMO Rocket (OD green
). if you have a Big 5 near, at times they have them on sale right around $100. gotta watch it every week and be ready to go down that morning.

I had an RWS I bought years ago that was fantastically accurate, had a good trigger and had plenty of power, I now have a Crosman Storm XT from Wally World and it is very powerful and accurate but the trigger is crap. I'm ordering a trigger upgrade for it this week as I really like the gun and if I can get the trigger sorted it will be great.

The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

I have an rws that I routinely ring steel with at 60-70 yards and have taken crows that far as well. I use the heaviest pellets I can find which are above 9 grains and it shoots very well. Were I to do it today....mirror piston for sure. Springers are quite finicky.

Pyramyd Air is a great resource for specs, reviews, and, of course, purchasing.

Have a Beeman RS2 with the two barrels. Been thinking about selling it. The scope that came with it was crap and since I started reloading shooting my AR is more fun and cheap enough.
