Color change in a photo question
«

Okay guys and gals, I'm Stumped!
I took a bunch of family photos for my daughter over the weekend and I ran into something I have never had happen before. My youngest Grand Daughter (sitting on the right) had on a Lavender colored shawl type thing. In virtually ever photo I took of her the shawl was BLUE!
I was trusting the Auto white balance for that exposure, but controlling the ISO and the Aperture. Here is the EXIF:
Date Time Original: 2012:05:18 22:58:19
Exposure Time: 1/100
F Number: f / 4
Exposure Program: Shutter priority
ISO Speed Ratings: 250
Metering Mode: Spot
Flash: Flash did not fire, compulsory flash mode
Focal Length: 40mm
White Balance: Auto white balance
Make: Canon
Model: Canon EOS 7D
LensInfo: 4
LensModel: EF17-40mm f/4L USM
What the heck caused the color change?

Dick,
I think it is because of the shaded light filtering through the trees. Look at the blue jeans, they are a much bluer blue than normal as well. It is almost like the saturation is to high, but that is not the issue. I have had several photos like this, almost all are in shade, with a lot of green around.
You can try and change the white balance in PP, see if that helps. IF you have photoshop, (not sure lightroom can do this) you can adjust the blue filter, like you would for printing film, and bring that color back the way it should be.

Dick,
Here is what I had to do to get the picture as you described it was..
I had to play with the color balance and the saturation, and adust the exposure just a small amount. As you can see in the picture, there is still some green in the throat of the subject on the left, and the blue jeans seem to be almost over exposed.. not sure exactly what happened,..

I found out on a photography site that the AWB setting was Totally Wrong! I should have been using the Shade setting! DOH! I feel like such a raw beginner!
