Bringin' the South to the PacNW
« on: May 22, 2012, 01:03:49 PM »
At the property that I deer hunt, the family that owns it are rifle hunters.  I wanted to build them a stand where they can rifle hunt out of on cold nasty days and stay nice and warm and be able to hunt the full day.  This is what I came up with...  We have tons of these style stands in the South and I havent seen any really up here before.

Will get the finished pics soon and some shots out the window of what the view is.

Pretty darn nice stand.

That's definitely nice and awesome that you took the time to do that, hopefully it's appreciated.

It's appreciated greatly. They are an awesome family and I am very lucky to have met them and built a relationship.

I am picking up carpet for the stand tomorrow.  The floor, ceiling and walls will all get carpet.  The carpet will hold insulation on the walls and ceiling once I come across some cheap/free stuff, if I can find it.  Im also on the look out for window material.  Then it will be time to hit the thrift store to find some nice chairs.

,I rremember those. Too comfortable at times, especially when you get warm and just want to take a nap.  I remember one hunt I was invited to go on, all 5 guns got a buck in one hour.  Unbeleivable afternoon.  They'll really enjoy it.

You bringing up any of those beautiful southern women who talk with honey dripping from their voice?

Good grief, I thought I was in heaven down there! People like guns, hunting, fishing & big American cars. People vote conservative, even the Democrats. The women were drop dead gorgeous and spoke beautifully.

Then I had to come home. Phooey. It was a mite warm & humid down there, I will admit.

Yeah, the humidity is the only thing I dont miss.  Ah yes....the women....They are great, but I didnt bring any with me.  I've actually met a pretty *censored* one here, that I plan to hang on to for a while.  She's about the first one I've met that isnt crazy.  Your breed of women here is a little different than what I'm used to.

Yeah yeah...
For some odd reason I didnt take a pic once I built the roof for it.  It's on now though.  I also picked up all the carpet last night for it.  Need to seal a few cracks and seams, but that wont take long at all.  Im hoping within the next 4 weeks I can get up there and get it complete.

I'm looking to build something similar for my uncle as he's turning 70 this year and just doesn't have the go he once did.  We've got a couple of nice fields that I'm trying to plant with food plot/minerals and get him a comfortable stand to stay out of the weather longer so he can enjoy the hunt.

Those aren't just a southern thing.  We had plenty of those in Minnesota.  They are nice keeping you out of the snow and rain.  Well mostly snow in Minnesota.

That is a nice stand even in Georgia

Why no windows on the back?  One of those first pictures seems like there is a lane back there.

That would work great on the side of a wheat field. I use a ground blind for that. It would really help to get a little higher up and see more field.

It is probably considered a shed in most of the state and not requiring a building permit. 12'x16' is a shed plus it has no utility connections.

Brings back some memories. Flying around South East Alabama it seemed every field had one of those. They were everywhere. As far as southern women yes they are the most beautiful things on earth. However their temper and all around craziness is also unmatched.
