This is always my dad's first choice.  If you have horses use them.  If you don't get in shape.  A buddy of mine drew back in 08, I think.  And he killed a 320 bull.  There was a 350 bull a few years before that on the cover of eastmans hunting magazine from here.

How many points did you have?  And have you ever been in this unit?

Better be in the best shape of your life, and scout all summer and through archery. That will determine what kinda elk you get

I had a goat tag there last year.  Get your pack on now and hit the trails.  We made 5 trips before season to learn it.  If you find where you want to hunt you can cache your stuff.  The valley below and to the south west of goat lake had a ton of elk.  If you come in from the bottom on the trail to the south I would stage up about 3.5 miles in with a camp.  That puts you right in the elk with a lot of options.  It is a easy hike with not a lot of elevation.  Take a bear tag too.   You can get horses in from the south west trail, but not the northwest.  If you get in there now and find the cows in where there is feed, that is where the cows will be in the fall.  Bulls will find cows.

I am going to try to do a trip in August.  Will let you know what I find.
