difference between moose and elk scat

i want to know if you can tell the difference between though too an if so how? i have been looking for the elusive NE elk and figure i need to know how to do this if possible?

Moose is about four times larger.

Moose is about four times larger.
All the poop you find in the NE is moose. There are no elk there.
reminds me of one Turkey season, I was in an area that had a lot of (what looked to me as Elk droppings, until there were some larger than golf balls !!
found out later, the "elk" droppings were calf moose, and the larger ones were mom.

Pretty hard to mistake them for elk, unless the Irish Elk have returned....

This is my easy rule of thumb for people to identify whether droppings are elk or moose:

If it looks like the biggest elk droppings you have ever seen, then it's probably moose.

I beg to differ i think moose droppings have one of those tastes that reminds you of moms home cookings where as elk are an aquired taste.

I've actually ate a moose poo with a bet this girl would partake :drool:.  Yes it was obvious I was the butt of the joke and unfortunately I didn't impress her.  It shouldn't be hard to identify.  If you have doubts it's probably elk....and no, I haven't eatin' any since.
