slick trick 4 blade tuning
« on: June 19, 2012, 09:00:37 PM »
I shoot slick trick 125gr magnums on black eagle rampage 350 arrows out of my new mathews helim. I was wondering how important it is to have all your broadheads in the same position on the arrows. Like people do with three blades line up with there vanes.  just seeing what people think. They shoot great right now but never hurts to try and be better.

Thanks!

Most people dont line there blades with vanes anymore because it does not matter pure myth.

Don't waste your time.

At one time (when younger with a bunch of extra time), I stripped all my fletching and refletched to line everything up and it made no difference.

All lining the vanes and blades up does is make you feel better.  The heads today have accurate enough machining tolerances that they'll repeat shot performance in any orientation.  25 years ago we could buy stuff that was off far enough to make people think lining up the vanes may actually help.  Now almost any name-brand company thinks in .0001's instead of .01's like back then.

The only benefit to lining up blades with vanes is ease in putting the arrows in the quiver. The vanes don't touch each others that way. As long as the broadhead ferrule (sp?) Spins true on the shaft and the bow is tuned the head will fly true. Wobbly broadhead or out of tune bow and you will not see great flight.
