Discover Pass - WADNR misleading the public?
« on: June 22, 2012, 12:17:48 PM »
I feel they are misleading the public.  They posted on thier facebook site.."Discover Pass Patrols start this weekend! Save some green – it’s a $99 fine if you access state lands without a Discover Pass. Buy now and learn more @ DiscoverPass.wa.gov"  The discover pass is not an access pass its a vehicle pass.   :bash:

Not surprised...
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

Not to mention posting county roads, ie Colockum Pass Rd, and putting up giant discover pass signs on wdfw lands and boat launches without clear indication that your wdfw pass is all you need.

Discover pass PATROLS???
Let's see. the DNR gets about $2.60  from each discover pass. And I Guestimate each DNR employee costs the state about $50+ hr in wages and benefits and gas.  For each day of patrol for DNR land they need to sell about 160 Discover passes to break even.  And all the excess goes to actual recreation sites (oh, and the state parks)! HUMMMMMMMM  sounds like a greatly efficient gov. program for us recreationists to suport.

:yeah: They should be required to post that it is "advertisement purposes only" if it is not required for a given area.
