Ford Creek Outfitters Montana
« on: January 27, 2019, 07:29:06 AM »
Curious if anyone on here has hunted with Ford Creek Outfitters and what their experience was? The good or the not so good. My dad and I would like to do an out of state elk hunt and we do not get much time to travel and scout on our own so we have decided to go with an outfitter. Our typical style of hunting is boots on the ground and trying to get away from the crowds and we take joy in putting effort before and after the kill. Our biggest concern in going with an outfitter is to ensure it is fair chase which Ford Creek appears to be. Another concern I have is that I want the feeling of remoteness and I am nervous I may not get that with having to return to a lodge with other hunters everyday. Maybe we’d be better on a pack in style hunt? Also, we have never hunted with a guide before and I have always been of position that I’d rather eat a tag than pay a guide and I feel this may be hard for me to get past. The main take away I’d like from the hunt is the overall experience and memories. If that is excellent I am fine with not filling my tag.

Please feel free to shoot me a PM with your experiences, not looking to bash someone’s business on a public forum. Or please feel free to tell me how to use the search function as I have been unsuccessful at it on this forum (have only tried on my phone).

Thank you in advance.

Never hunted with them but understand the lodge versus pack in dilemma. We went pack in and enjoyed it because being in a tent was part of the experience we were after. I think going on at least one outfitted hunt in your life is good as you can learn a lot and it’s a unique experience.
