Pinesol and Water?
« on: October 07, 2008, 07:11:10 PM »
Pinesol and water for scent cover? Well thats why i heard from a bow hunter i worked with about a month ago but i'm not sure if it's true does anyone know...i went out scouting on sunday and got made by a nice 3 pt buck...he couldn't see me but he could definately smell me...and i don't want that to happen once the season starts so i'd appreciate the info...oh ya by the way i was walking down a canyon to the east and the wind was at my back so i had it coming,it was blowing 10 to 15mph.
Ruger brought back the .220, i just shoot it.

First start off by bathing and washing all your clothes in scent eliminator.  Then when you get in the woods you are much better off grabbing a handful of fir or pine needles, crushing them up in your hands and rubbing them all over yourself.  PineSol has unnatural chemicals and smells.  go with something that is natural and in their neighborhood.

 :bdid:

Spend a few dollars on a "scent eliminating" bar soap (about $5) and some Scent Killer.  I use fresh cedar limbs and strip off the needles backwards which really lets the scent out.  Also, wash your clothing in scent eliminating detergent (many to choose from) and if possible, hang them outside to air out after drying (without fabric softener).  A good damp night out will permeate your clothing with fresh air.

I would refrain from chemicals.  You can smell like hell if your always downwind but some simple measures can really help when you get in close.

Not if you are careful enough and do it right.  Trust me on this one.
