I will also add about the chain thing is that be aware that these roads can get really slick. not just ice, but muddy/greasy.  The ground will freeze and by mid afternoon will be thawing and will slid right out from under you or just push your truck in the ditch or over the edge.  So be aware that in the dark early one morning you are just climbing higher and higher no problem, but later that day its a whole different ball game when you have to get back out.  So plan accordingly and sometimes you just have to not go to that place that day.

Ain't that the truth!  Unfortunately, sometimes even four chains won't be able to dig into that super fine mud.

Dang, i'm wondering if I should bring my motorcycle.
LO, not to sound like a buzzkill but having been in there a lot and watching first hand, the sound of motorcycles, 4 Wheeler's and snowmobiles gets those deer moving real quick. I'd stick to the truck. :twocents:

Yea, maybe I'll bring it and just keep it at camp until I need it. Thanks for the heads up though.

Seems like the only hunt that should have that many people applying for it. Any buck, winter range, peak of the mule deer rut, main migration route. Seems like there should be about 10,000 people applying for this one.

Not the only hunt but if you name off a couple of the other good ones there will be 4100 applicants for those next year after the word gets out for all to see on the internet.  With only two choices for quality hunts it does make people pick the two most well known but there are definitely other good hunts.

Well, that's the only reason I applied. I didn't know anything about this unit until I was drawn. My buddy that lives in Chelan told me that it's the premier hunt of washington. Starting to sound like it for sure.
