wenatchee sockeye

anyone been fishing for sockeye on the columbia around wenatchee?

thinking of going off the back above rocky reach this weekend.  any insight to whats going on with the fish would be great (ie morning or evening, what they have been hitting on, depth)

i know i know another shameless post saying please tell me what to use and when to be there, lol

To be honest, sockeye tactics hardly change up here from year to year.  I'd personally fish at the depths you have before with the same gear that's worked for you before.

They are small this year and there aren't very many.

I only ask cause I've never fished sockeye from the bank before. Always fished for them from a boat trolling. Was thinking maybe drift a shrimp under a slip bobber like steel heading? I don't know, I got some free time coming up and figure I'd might try something new

I thought I read somewhere that the sockey are running thick this year.  I heard almost 5000 a day crossing the damns??  Not sure that is accurate...but if it is that Is a lot of fish.

I checked the dam counts and average daily run is right about 5k at rock island with about 1k either holding up below rocky reach or taking a left up the Wenatchee

Both Rocky Reach and Wells have 5-6 K a day running over them as of a few days ago.  I can't find any current data much past the 12th.

What is used up there for trolling for the Sockeye's? What would you use if your anchored up? Never fished them in the Columbia either. Thanks!

8 inch flasher followed with 14 inchs of leader to a small smilie blade then a hoochy tiped with a coon shrimp 12 feet behind the ball at 14 feet deep

Hoochies tipped with some shrimp under a bober
