« on: October 25, 2008, 09:28:22 AM »
My inlaws are over at colockum and my Nephew and Brother in law both got their elk this morning.

I have to go haul them back to this side as they are all in vehicles loaded down with gear.. Joy!

only bummer for me is the blood that will cristen my ranger will be that of another hunters kill.

me too, i am taking mine so when i return i will post photos.

I remember the first time i walked into my inlaws home, my wife said her brothers are barbarians.
I just "HAD" to meet them.

everyone was polite and coordial in the living room, made my way around introducing myself, got to the kitchen doorway and there and behold layed a nice spike on the table getting butchered.
Man it was like childhood looking for a knife to help, totally unaware they had harvested one i was in heaven. fit it with the wifes Brothers ever since. lol!

Sorry Houndhunter, best i could do. Guts were gone before i got over there.

My Brother in law and his Son (my Nephew) BOTH tagged out, Father/son within the first hour of daylight on Saturday.
They were in the Colockum area, The 1x2 was a nice prize for my Nephews first kill in his life. My brother got a spikexspike and wow that was some tender ass!
We got the animals skinned and started cutting into the butt, then we were still hungry a bit later and ate some backstrap off the bigger one. mmmmmmmmmmm

Loaded the buggers in the ranger and headed home the next day, I only went prepared for the day, no blankets, no gear, nothing but my coat and orange vest. good thing the brothers brought extra gear for us. slept in my ranger nicely enough.

They said they were dragging the first one out, Huffing & Puffing and making god awful grunting noises when the second one walked out (spike x spike) and Chuy took a shot and missed then joe said stand back, im taking him. BANG! and onother misery shot when they walked up on it. not sure how many actual shots it took.

While skinning the first one it was nice and light out, still had time for the second one also but then two gamies showed up and took all our daylight looking the animals over carefully, so I called the Lovely wife and promptly pissed her off by telling her we had to stay the night.

She laughed knowing i didnt have any gear and said i will be cold tonight lol!
enjoy the pics.

Playing around at the skinning party, i got me some ass too! lol  :IBCOOL:
Made a Desktop background also for those that want one.

Animals loaded and ready for travel.

Actually, the 2x1 was  2x2 at one time, the point was broke off who knows how long ago. the wardens looked at it for over 30 minutes alone.

Joe looked at it for 30 minutes or more before telling his son to take the animal.
Shane (15) quickly abliged.
The shot was over 200 yds, good shot too & Shane is handy with a firearm as well..
Joe had his spotting scope,  he watched that broken side closely to make 100% sure it was a legal spike.

in the pic with it in the truck you can the busted point is wider than it is long and not an inch long... i would have killed it in a spike unit.
