Treestands - Late Archery

Do you guys think its too late to throw up some treestands for the late archery hunt?
What are some do's and don'ts?
What kind of area's would I look for, for late archery?
I got my treestand pulled out and ready to be put up somewhere, I have my calls all ready, I have some of my cold weather gear ready. Just need alittle guidance. Never setup my treestand in the field.
Mostly for hunting deer, maybe calling in some bear.

Hang on, Gonna have to climb the tree then hang it. Its a cheapy but Its brand new. I have a few decent area's in mind that are pretty local where I've seen ridiculous amounts of sign.
I dont think waiting until after Modern seasons over is a good idea. I want it up and established so any local animals can get used to it. I don't mind locking it to a nice thick tree. If they want to go through the trouble of climbing it, cutting locks, and all that. Honestly they can have it lol.

I suppose if you didn't leave any screw in steps or hang on ladders it'd probably be safe

Unfortunately a lot of people will go through the trouble. I hunt a lot of public land and I don't hang stand for late season until after modern is over. I do bait prior to that but only hang stand a day or two before and have never had issues killing deer. the stand isn't going to be the thing that messes with the deer it is the human scent so use proper scent control and you should be fine.

Yeah I would just my ladder and install it maybe a week prior. The place I have in mind is pretty remote, Its only accessible by crossing a river around waist high.

I guess I could probably do that. I was just wanting to get it up and prepped before hand so I didnt have to worry about it anymore. Throw a salt lick out there and let it sit until my late season comes back around.

I don't recommend putting up a stand way ahead of time.  I prefer climbers because there is no prep time, you don't have to worry about others messing with your stuff (I pack mine out every day) and it leaves very little trace for other hunters to detect that you might be hunting an area.  If you are using a hang-on, find where you want to set up, get everything ready like you are going to hunt, sit in the stand, make sure you have shooting lanes and can see where you want to hunt, make reference marks on the tree (not obvious to anyone waling by) and take all your gear out until you are ready to hunt.   As far as leaving salt, it is too late in the year for that and it will just melt into the ground.  As far as where, I like saddles between bedding and feeding area with intersecting trails, especially if there is a smaller trail paralleling a well used trail.  I don't use bait or scents so I have to be careful where I pick to hang a stand and make sure that it is in an area that is being used by deer.  If you are hunting blacktail, less is more as far as calling IMO.  I rattled up my daughter's buck last year by barely tickling the rattling antlers and no other calls.
