Never heard of a guided coyote hunt.  Coyotes are everywhere--even back in New England where I grew up.  It's mainly a matter of finding areas to hunt.  The more scouting you do, and people you talk to, the more you learn. Coyotes have learned that where there's people, there's food!
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

I'm going to have to disagree with the tone on here that a guided hunt is foolish or unnecessary.  Jerry Malbeck is probably the most knowledgeable person you will run across when it comes to hunting coyotes.  IF you can't him here, look him up on the foxpro forums.

It's just like anything else.  Yes, you can figure it out over time.  BUT.... to spend some money to be walked through and shown first hand by someone who has spent his life learning the hard way might be a wise investment.  Stand location, calling sequence, calling duration, setup etc are all factors.  It's no different than someone wanting to learn how to fish for a particular fish in a particular water system.  Paying a pro to show you the basics can save you a LOT of time and make you 20X more lethal.   :twocents:

100% agree. A lot of people think hunting coyotes is as easy as buying a foxpro and a gun. I feel like every time I go out I learn something. Thinking back it would have been nice to pay for Jerry's service. I did get some help from a couple guys on here, but the money would of been well spent considering all of my bone headed failures at the beginning.
"One does not hunt in order to kill; on the contrary, one kills in order to have hunted..If one were to present the sportsman with the death of the animal as a gift he would refuse it. What he is after is having to win it, to conquer the surly brute through his own effort and skill with all the extras that this carries with it: the immersion in the countryside, the healthfulness of the exercise, the distraction from his job." I won a guided hunt with Tony Tebbe down in NM.  It was after many years of doing it on my own.  For a newbie it would have been great, Tony told me why we were taking the stand we were more than likely where the coyote was coming from so a new guy would have learned a lot. Tony's predator university DVD is pretty informative.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.
