Green river unit

Just looking at the green river unit being a draw only unit and haven't heard anything about it. Was wondering what peoples thoughts and past experiences were with the unit.

Tough to hunt but good bucks. No scouting.

No scouting? Is it true that if you draw the Green River deer tag and also purchase a bear tag, you can go in there early for bear and essentially do your deer scouting? I've heard this more than once but I'm not sure I believe it.

The only time anyone is allowed in is when you show up at the gate with your permit for your deer/elk hunt.
The things that come to those who wait, may be the things left by those who got there first!

Not True about the early bear hunting and scouting. You are allowed to take One bear and a cougar during your special deer hunt time but there will be no scouting. You and one person are only allowed in the watershed during the special permit deer season. You can't shoot anything else either such as a grouse or bobcat.....only the deer, one bear and a cougar....that is the rules you go by. Been on the hunt several times with the permit or as the one person allowed to go with the permit holder. Hope that helps......Les

Is there any logging activity in there? I've put in for that the last couple years, and expect to draw some time.

Active logging in the area is also a wonder to me. Thanks for the replies

There is plenty of logging in there. Not always an easy hunt.

Do you mean not easy to find animals or access during the hunt.

I mean finding animals. Access is simple, there are 2 gates you can enter through. The hard part is finding bucks. If you don't hit the rut just right, it can be tough to find bucks. You are going in blind, with no way to scout or even learn the area before hand. It is during West side elk season a lot of times too, so you may have to give up elk hunting if you draw.
