Hogg Father is AWESOME!
« on: March 11, 2014, 09:06:09 PM »
After much deliberation I decided to purchase the more expensive Spott Hogg Hogg Father... Incredible! I'm still dialing it in a bit but first time out shooting it I'm hitting longer distance shots with more confidence and greater accuracy. Just thought I'd put that out there for anyone interested.

Cheers,

Erik

thas is an awsome site.  i ended up getting the new tommy hogg 5 pin site.  just waiting for my arrows to be shipped. hopefully will be dialing my new strothers wrath in next week.  have fun with the site.  the reps from spott hogg are doing some crazy shots at the range with these sites.  should be alot of fun.

I've got a Tommy and a Boss as well as a couple other Hoggs.  I really like every one of them.  Considering selling the Boss and Tommy and getting the Father. Only reason is its lighter weight. The Tommy and Boss preform flawlessly and this is just another "want", not "need".  Makes fun shooting much funner.

This is my first time shooting a single pin site with this much adjustability and all the while seemingly being bomb proof. No rattling at all thus far. Just have to make sure dovetail is adjusted with the set screw tightened down in one of the grooves just right (in my experience).

I will admit that having a 2nd and third axis is new to me for sure and I'm digging it BUT I may need the help of a shop to lazer center the site with the arrow etc to find the bow's center shot.

The single pin sight has been a huge game changer for me... I would get anxious looking at my 5pin sight and with the Hogg Father single pin I'm staying mor relaxed. We'll see what happens come hunting season and if I can remember to change the range I'll be good :)

That was my problem with a one pin. They really help the concentration level for accuracy and in my backyard I was shootin like a pro, but adding another step for range adjustment in a hunting situation made me go back to a fixed multi pin. Maybe one day ill try the tommy.

I am running the Hogg Father as well. Absolutely love it and wouldn't consider going back to a multi pin sight. Here's a group from last weekend at 127 yards, the sight is money.

I run a .010" single red pin. At that distance it's about that same size as that heart painted on the target

I shot a three pin slider for years.  I felt it was the best of both worlds.  Less clutter, less anxiety, 30, 40 & 50. Then with a slight adjustment I could dial in the 30 for shooting a grouses head at 20 or dial the 50 out to 140 yards for that long range bunny!  You can get just about any pin configuration you want with the 'Father.  Great products!  Just don't expect to be treated like a human being if you run into the Hogg boys at a show ;)

Just for fun I looked up that sight and found the price to be in excess of $300.  For a sight!  Holy crap, does it come with a jar of Grey Poupon? :o

When you pay $1,400 for a Hoyt, why not put a $349.00 sight on it too!  If you spread out the purchase of that bow in payments that's only $200 per month until it's considered "out dated" technology :chuckle:
