Are my broadheads legal?
«
on:
July 18, 2014, 07:35:05 PM »
Ordered some new broadheads on line that said they were 1 1/16". Figured okay ... no problem. 2014 Regs, page 78, Archery Regulations 1f. says, "... and the broadhead blade or blades are less than 7/8 inch wide."
The package says 1 1/16" cut diameter, .027" blades. So ... the individual blade is too small but when assembled they exceed the 7/8-inch requirement.
I may be confusing myself. Are they legal? Opinion or advice appreciated. Thanks!

Your are OK. The broad head refers to the whole broad head not the parts.

1 1/16 is bigger than 7/8??? LOL ..... My issue was with the wording in the game regs which states, in pertinent part, "...and the broadhead blade or blades are less than seven-eights inch wide." My "blade", or "blades" are technically less than 7/8 although assembled they exceed 7/8. At this point I'm more concerned with the "barbed" definition in the game regs. I may post a picture of them and ask an opion on that issue. As I mentioned, I was probably just confusing myself but, then again, I've been called a confused individual before.

You crack me up h20. I just saw the Welcome to Hunt Wa post with the new baby. I thought about posting a pic I took of my new grandson when he was born. He was born on 7/21 and was 21-inches long. That day my son and I went fishing in his farm pond and I caught a wall-hanger largemouth. We weren't sure how long the fish was since we didn't have a tape measure. So, mama held him up to the fish and we shot a pic to compare. Yep .... the fish was longer than the baby. We called it a red-necked tape measure. Maybe tomorrow I'll post the broadheads because I am concerned about them. Might be a wasted $60. Oh well.

Killing me Rover....I thought maybe you were posting pics of poo and broadheads. I'm not kidding...notice I listed it first. Congrats on the new baby. So the way I see it now you owe us a pic of the baby and the fish, broadheads, maybe the farm pond for good measure, and some type of mystery animal poo so we can debate what it was, what it ate, gender, weight, and possibly favorite color.

Red-necked tape measure. When you can't find a tape measure just use your new-born grandson Paxton to verify the length of the fish. My granddaughter in the pic always asks grandpa for a new tackle box or fishing rod for her birthday. Paxton just turned 3 last week.
