Cow Down
« on: September 02, 2014, 11:43:46 PM »
Ok I will try to make this short.  The morning started out with elk 5-6 hundred yards out and when we finally made it to the timber they winded us.  We were literally right on top of them as they blew out of there.  Morning over time to eat and regroup.

Afternoon.  We get to our spot and start hiking and run into two other hunters hunting where we were planning.  We did the polite thing and left the spot to not disturb there hunt.  We went to our plan b spot and right away spot a cow.  She was moving towards us and my brother cut her off and drew back as she was behind some brush.

So he shoots and the arrow goes right over her back and she spins and starts to run.  I immediately throw a cow call and she stops and walks right back to the opening and my brother hits her.  She turns and bolts heading towards the timber and I cow call again and she stops at 60 and he drills her.  The blood trail was awesome and the Savora did quick work on her.  We cut her up and packed her out and I finally get to relax.

I didn't know they made 36" arrows!  Those things look like javelins.  Good job!  Two days and two animals down.  When you planning on sleeping?  Hopefully not while driving the bus :chuckle:
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."
