.38 ammo question
« on: September 16, 2014, 08:01:13 PM »
I received two .38 revolvers one is a Rossi .38 that I know was purchased around 1985 and a S&W air weight .38.

question is can either of these shoot +p ammo?
thanks.

You should probably contact the two manufacturers to be sure.

My guess is that they'd both be safe for a limited number of +p rounds but I'd shoot regular pressure mostly.  .38 +p is 18,000 psi vs. 17,500 for regular so it's not like going to a .357 magnum or anything.

Can't go wrong calling them though...

Check out CorBon DPX. if you're shooting a snub nose .38, they often don't affect much rifiling on the round before it leaves the barrel.. The CorBon rounds are supposed to shine here, so I've read. Expensive, but you don't have to practice with it.

My S&W Airweight is marked +P on the front left of the barrel.
