Glad there are still some straight shooters in this world telling it like it is,  got a smile out of me😁.

I want that exact caliber and rifle,  but lately been thinking of getting it in 30-06 for brass availability.   Wondering what range the 280 ack takes over on the 30-06 for energy?  With some of the new bullets you can make the 30's pretty darn flat out to hunting ranges.

The 280 Ackley Improved is a great cartridge, but I'd go with something a little more common such as the 270 Win, 30/06, or 300 WSM.   :twocents:

"more common" may be a deterrent. :tung:  That 300 wsm is tough to beat though.  Load as light as you want but still reach out there for elk.  The .280 ai is getting pretty light out there over 500.

Pretty sure Landon reloads, and a 162 would have plenty of azz past 500...

I've thought for a long time that the .280 Remington was the perfect cartridge.  Having said that I've had to hunt for 30+ years with a 7x57.

I don't know about that google says different..  My AI is pushing 7mag speeds with the 162's and I am not even pushing it hard..

I'm getting 3100 fps with 140 grain Berger VLD's out of my 270 Win. and a 22 inch barrel. How's that compare to 280 Ackley performance?

That's pretty good speed, what's the barrel length?
