Trespassing poaching SOBs
« on: October 15, 2007, 02:45:28 PM »
Ran into a group of real a**holes this weekend.  I went out with a buddy who's never shot a mule deer before.  He ended up getting some permission on private land out in Lincoln County.... full of muleys.  So Sat morning at 7 we run into a guy from a 10 person camp who claim they have access to the land.  Later that day we run 4 more of em.  They all claim the same thing.  Bottom line... after talking w/ the land owner we find out that he gave 1 guy permission like 6 years ago and now he's bringing all these people like he has free rein of the place.  Later we find where 1 of them killed a nonlegal 2 pointer and just left it.  Needless to say the land owner was furious.  Problem is they are camping on adjacent land and the land owner hasn't actually caught em on his property.  It jerks like this that really ruin it for people trying to do it right.  Needless to say we didn't even see a buck... only about 6 does

Interestingly... we went back on Sun and didn't see any of these clowns.  However we did end up seeing 7 bucks and about 40 does... no legal ones unfortunately.

Hopefully your POSITIVE influence with the landowner will help out.  Its very likely if you stick with it, your hunt will turn ut good there.

Have the same problem where I hunt in Okanogan Co.  I know names and faces of the few individuals with access.  Spend 1/2 the time hunting and the rest patrolling >:(  Starting to get it under control.  This year we are managing to harvest more than the poachers :dunno:

i have access to 1450 acres in garfield county and myself and the 3 others i hunt with every year are the only ones with permission to hunt every year, yet every year i run into some guys who claim to have permission. every year it's somebody different and this year there was a couple guys who had to pass over 2 different landowners land to get to where they were trespassing at. *censored*s!!! ruined it for me too...same kind of deal. hunted hard all the way down to a creek-bottom where i was sure i was going to see a good number of deer...water, shade, etc. and there they were...right where they didn't belong...guess what? no deer.

What is just as bad is when these guys will plant a No Trespass sign on public land or park their trailer across a FS  road blocking entry into an area.   When this happens I'll just drive right through their camp with them starring at me with a
"how dare you do that".    I won't hesitate to call the Sheriff when this crap happens and they are only to happy to come out and take care of it.

I haven't seen that one yet, Bob.
i did find the landowner's no tresspassing sign knocked over this year, so i drove the fencepost back in the ground where it belonged. the next day we came back to it, it was knocked over again. i planted that thing solidly in the ground.

Where I hunt around the Palouse it is all hunt by written permission only.  Each farmer has a pad of permission slips that they fill out.  They give you the bottom half and they keep the top half (both have all the same info on it).  Anytime I see someone hunting were I am I card them :).  They either have it or they don't and it makes things really simple.

Here's one for you;

Every year I hunt areas closed to motorized rigs of any kind, yet every year I continue to run into folks who find they are above the law, and run their little 4-wheelers in there.....why???

Heres something to think about....I've heard that we have around 500 folks on this board about now, that means that there are more than just a few RIGHT HERE, maybe even reading this that DO that very thing themselves.

The same ones that knock over No Tresspassing Signs, or shoot them, whatever.
Am I making an accusation? You betcha'. If it ain't you, don't get offended, but if it is you, or your buddies, and you know who you are, step up to the plate and tell your buddies to knock thier *censored* off, otherwise its going to be ruined for ALL of us.

'Nuff said.

I hear ya!. I love it when I start hiking into a walk in area an hour or so before light to get to my hunting grounds 3 miles in only to find some punk on a quad racing around lloking for a deer to shoot from his quad. Of course I was kinda hoping one of those punks would ride up when I was packing out my buck yesterday :bash:. I wish they would obey the laws like others do. Like I said in another post, I put 43 miles on my legs the past 4 days hunting blacktails. I paid my dues and got lucky on a nice blacktail. Most people I know couldnt even attempt what I do out hunting.

Monday evening I spotted a couple of guys sneaking with quads onto Weyerhaeuser land across from my house.  I called their security and they nailed him and his buddy.  I guess that it is a pretty hefty fine.  Maybe that'll teach them how to read!

More need to read this thread.

If we don't Police ourselves, then others will have too, and things might get worse for hunters in general if you get my drift.

Here is a big public F YOU to all you schmucks who give us law abiding, respectful hunters a bad name. I am so tired of seeing people drive past "No motorized vehicle" signs like they cant read, no trespassing signs like they dont care, and nailing 2 points cause they cant count. Learn to read, count, and obey the law...then hunt. I am tired of them.
