Moses Lake ice off
« on: March 19, 2019, 11:29:21 AM »
Does anyone have any info on the ice thickness at Moses Lake? I have some major bass fever from this long winter, and need to get the boat out.

@hughjorgan Thank you for the info. I'm hoping this warm week will open it up by Saturday. It might be wishful thinking though.

Probably better make other plans this weekend...Moses Lake has a long way to go... Its gonna be a while. Was 27deg this morning, have been having very cold nights along with the warm days.

Thank you for heads up, C-Money. Those prespawn smallies are starting to consume my mind. I guess I'll have to wait a bit longer.

N end of banks is starting to thaw, a little open water(very little). They are starting to fill up the main canals, so if they get some water moving, that will speed things up.

went and drove around today, there pumping water out of potholes. soda had some open water. I would think that long lake, crescent and maybe even scootney will clear out pretty fast with the moving water.

I really appreciate the updates, plugger. Things should be in good shape for when I can make it out in a couple weeks. I might have to settle for fishing the Spokane Arm, or making a trip down to the Clearwater for steelhead this weekend, as long as the river isn't chocolate milk on Saturday.

There is always rufuswoods and Roosevelt. They never seem to muddy up, and rufus is actually better with more current. Fished it twice last week and there was no runoff effecting it although I think that will change soon.

Moses was still completely frozen by Blue Heron Park, north and south of I90. Appears to be weakening though, probably at least another week before its freed up. I really wanna get out fishing!!!

soda and goose are ice free. Potholes is days away. Threw rocks off the dam, anything fist size or bigger went through the ice. soft and less than1 inch. Lind coulee ramp is open, but muddy water coming out of the coulee.

That's great news, Plugger. I'm planning on hitting Moses April 5th and 6th if the thawing trend continues. I'm guessing it should all be clear by then.

Thank you for the update. Planning on hitting some of the seep lakes below the dam on 4/12 & 4/13 on the way over for turkey season.
