Area 9-10 Chinook
« on: June 16, 2019, 09:59:21 AM »
Looks like we only get 4 days to fish Chinook in area 9 and it doesn’t open until July 25th.   Area 10 is going to be a zoo.

Rumor is the department thinks it will go longer but wanted to go with emergency open vs emergency close.

was really hoping this would be the year to draw my bull tag...
would have lessened the sting of less time on the water by having more time to scout...
oh well, have boat and truck...will travel  :dunno: :chuckle:

I tried to find the info I remembered, but think I got confused with some of the other areas.  WDFW had done a fabulous job of making crab and salmon regs as confusing as possible without releasing the slightest bit of information as to why they did it.  For some of the seasons, they set the chinook impact to leave plenty of wiggle room for a long coho season which is great, but it would be nice to know why they are doing these types of things and seek input from sport anglers so we could at least let them know what is important to us.

I found the quotas:

Marine Area 9 (3,500 fish)
Marine Area 10 (3,057 fish)
