I was looking for an excuse to get out of the office for a day this week so I took a drive up to the Colockum for a hike in the woods. I saw that a lot of the trees along the flat ground on top of Colockum Rd have been cut down recently. Mostly smaller trees about foot or less in diameter. I am assuming this was done for fire retention? Can anyone confirm on this? I was talking to my dad about it last night and he remembers them doing the same thing about 20 years or so ago.
Does anyone know if their is any plans of coming back in to remove the down trees? Or do they usually just let them lay?
Also, didnt see any elk this time but did see some deer with fawns which is fun to see.
