Left Hand Fire in Yakima District - Rock Creek area
« on: July 25, 2019, 11:41:59 AM »
Howdy folks.  Thought I'd give a head's up in case anybody is planning on coming to the Rock Creek area off 410 in Yakima.

https://www.yakimaherald.com/news/local/left-hand-fire-northeast-of-yakima-spreads-into-hard-to/article_02483199-78e9-50f1-b2bd-63bcf16f275d.html

Not a big blaze yet but with the terrain involved and the weather forecast, this could get big.

@nachessportsman yeah, they're throwing some weight for sure.  120 personnel so far.  Two spotting helos on the ground at jefferson, and at least two bucket helos pulling water from the pond there today.  Hopefully it stays localized and doesn't start jumping to other drainages.

Cryder. Saw a half dozen spikes during general last year moving 0.1 m.p.h. shoot me a PM. Oh, that’s right...no tag. Disregard.

Its just over the hill from our cabin.  It made it into the highway 410 drainage once, but they got it out and have been dumping retardant on the ridge.  Poor goats are probably wondering what the heck is going on.  Our place is at A level 3 evac right now

Good luck. I heard it was torching a little bit on the retardent line up on the cliff line.

I had the guys go pick up the DNR fire camp assets today at the middle school in Naches for the Pipeline fire. Must be another camp closer to the fire up on 410? I know the bombers have been flying in and outta Grant County Airport like crazy.

Just checked the website and it looks like this is over 3,000 acres now. Hopefully they have good lines to the south to protect the homes along 410

Yeah, looks like they've got the road and nearby structures pretty well taken care of.  This morning it looks like it's headed uphill so hopefully their teams on that side are having some success.
