2019/2020 Fur Season

The Fur season is only a couple months away. The coyote market is still strong and I will again be running routes in Washington and  Eastern Oregon.

I am also offering a new service this year. Tanned wall hangers are still available and this year you can have teddy bears made from your fur.

How much are the tannedwall hangers and how much for the teddy bears?

Depends on how much work I do and size of the teddy bear. If I take your animal from whole carcass to my largest Teddy it will be $195. That price includes everything, start to finish.

A standard Coyote/Bobcat wall hanger (carcass to tanned wall hanger) is $125.

The more work the hunter or trapper does, like skinning, fleshing, stitching holes and smaller size teddy bears go down from $195.

When will you interested in fur? Also how do you want them put up? Washed dried and wrapped in paper then in a garbage bag or what is the method you would like me to use before freezing the whole coyote?I think i am gonna hit them pretty hard this year so I am sure we will be seeing each other . Your in Tri-Town right?

I am in the Tri-Cities but run routes all over Washington, Eastern Oregon and portions of Idaho.
Prime fur starts in November with coyotes. Every animal primes at different times but generally November 1st to late February for coyotes. Bobcats are best after Chiristmas.
Unless you are comfortable with skinning and "Put-Up" its best to just bag the coyote and freeze it whole. Take care of it in the field, place in a plastic bag (don't tie it closed), and freeze. Give me a call when the freezer is getting full and I will schedule a route.

4:30pm to 5:30pm

I can stop in Othello on my my through to Moses and Davenport/Reardon on my to Deer Park.

Fur Route

Sunday 11/24

Cooper's Corner
SR 195 & SR 23
Steptoe, WA

12:30pm to 1:30pm

I can stop in Rosalia on my way through to Steptoe.

I'll be in Ewan around 2:30 and can stop in St. John on my way through to Ewan and Sprague on my back to Tri-Cities.

Still waiting to see the effect the loss of NAFA will have. Many are speculating and I tend to agree that the fur market will be just fine. The loss of NAFA is not good but there are many outlets to get you fur in the hands of the retail market.

I know FHA is doing what they can to receive as much fur as possible. FHA is bringing on new shipping agents and will, at least out west, try to fill the NAFA void. There are significant logistical issues in taking the previous NAFA fur. I am not confident that FHA can, in such as short time frame, develop the manpower, trucking, infrastructure....to add millions of additional furs.

I have already seen an increase in calls from trappers and hunters looking to sell me their fur. I suspect this is the case with every county buyer in the country. I also anticipate record breaking attendance at local and regional auctions.

The demand is there and the fur industry will not be going away. It will however take on a different look.
