was out and about the other day, and saw a knife on display that i fell in love with at the gear store.
ive always regarded Helle knives as quality steel, although i have not used them, i suppose its a poor assumption that because it is Norwegian that the metal is good. i have a soft spot for Scandinavian steel as my grandpa was a Swede and got me hooked on the outdoors, so to me there is some heritage wrapped up in having Nordic iron as my go to tool in the woods.
i currently carry a Mora which is carbon steel, but rusts up easy, but takes an edge very well. its a cheap knife, 20$ or so, but has served me well.
i like the Helle Viking because of feel, and finish, but, i dont know anything about the metal or have any experiance with the brand, but, they are sure good looking. i realize without a guard on it, the risk of getting cut is a little higher, but, still love the look.... as with many things i fall in love with the image of, it usually turns out to be a disapointment, but, helle has always had very very good looking blades.
