100 dead coyotes!
« on: December 10, 2019, 08:20:51 PM »
In a perfect world... 50 grain nosler ballistic tip/varget. My 22-250 likes these at 200 yards. Should last me the fur season. Watching some coyote hunting on the tv and the pup has his nose touching it, head sideways, and a little grumble occasionally. He wants to hunt em too I guess!
May my presence go unnoticed, may my shot be true, may the blood trail be short.

Amen

Its a wicked caliber.   The poachers I used to know on the Rez loved it.   Crazy accurate and precise.  My Dads choice was the 220 swift, mine the 25-06, brothers was the 22-250 with Sierra bullets.  Alot of coyotes bit the dust

Very nice!

The first reloading I ever did was 200 rnds of .223 with those 50 gr nosler ballistic tips and 26gr Varget.  They were very accurate and took a few rockchucks and prairie dogs.

Now I usually use Hornady V-max or Z-max in 50gr and Varget or H335 for powder.  I've had good results with those too.

My brother just got a Savage 12FV in 22-250 from a black friday sale.  Will be looking for a load for that soon.

Same here.  Mine is just a cheap Stevens with a Bushnell 4-12 on it.  With a bipod it makes 1 ragged hole at 100 yards

Wish we could use decoy dogs in this state :(. From what I know it was something WDFW took away from us on there own.

I've taken my mutts out over the years and it's amazing how much more aggressive and dumb coyotes are when theres another k9 there. Dogs were completely unaware of thencoyores but the coyotes were mad.
