Looking for Eurasian Doves
« on: June 21, 2021, 09:24:01 PM »
I'm looking for someplace that I can hunt Eurasian doves during the off season in order to keep my dog in training and both of us entertained.  I live on Camano Island so the closer to there, the better, but I'm willing to travel.  Does anyone know of any place that they are willing to share?

I have looked as well, but it seems the Eurasian Doves are smarter than your average Pigeon and stay in the city limits where they are safe.
Best of luck!

We have a few around. But they don't take hunting pressure well. Once you shoot them they move to a new spot and that's usually where you can't shoot. I've had marginal luck with hanging bird feeders in clearings to keep them around for a few passes. My dog hates to retrieve them, but I will say they are good on the bbq.

Fair number around mixed with the locals right now.  They get gun shy fast.  Some nesting in the spruce in my yard have not made eliminating them easy.  The 17 hornet really makes a nice feather cloud and the 410 or 28 gauge sharpens your skills.  Dry enough now to curtail most shooting, not a bad deal with the price/availability of ammo.

There is WDFW lands just before you actually go onto the Island. Map it, I've seen them in the Cottonwood trees along the river as well. A knock on a local Farmers door can't hurt either.

Been seeing them down in Lewis County. All on private land though unfortunately.

I've run into a fair amount of them in the mountains, I know that's not real close to you...just an option. 3500-4500' where the forest begins to thin a little, lycan on the trees
