When using a DISC you really do not need a capper. The DISC using 209 primers comes in two version - well actually 3.  One system is called the FPJ system using - red plastic jackets with a primer installed in the jacket and two bare primer methods one using bare 209's you drop into a primer adapter or another bare prime system that you feed the primer into a primer rail on the face of the bolt.  When you want the primer out open the bolt and turn the rifle sideways and the primer will fall out.

This picture shows the Red Plastic Jacket dropped into the FPJ bolt ready to be pushed on the FPJ breech plug.

Well after consistent shooting both disc extremes that I converted to the bare 209 primer where the primer slides into the rail on the bolt I’m swapping back to the red discs
8 outta 10 times the primer is stuck in the rail and I’ve got to pull the bolt out and use a screw driver to pry the primer out , any one have the same issues and this is on 2 rifles

I converted my disc extreme to bare primer using the lehigh conversion with no problems.  I would try a different primer first.  I know they are hard to find right now. I use the winchester  209 with no problems.

I have 2 Knight Disc Extremes. One is converted to bare primer using a custom breech plug from Bestill Creations and a Knight/Lehigh primer adapter. I use Winchester 209 primers and 80 - 100 grains volume of Blackhorn 209 powder in it. No problems getting the spent primers to fall out when I open the bolt.
The other one is set up to use a Lehigh breech plug with removable vent liner and the Lehigh / Knight style bare primer adapter. No issues with stuck primers in that one either. Again we use Winchester 209 primers in the blue box / sleeve. With these set up like they are we get no blowback into the breech area and clean up is a bit easier, which is why I went with these bare primer set ups in the first place.

I have the knight bare primer kit on my disc extreme and it is much easier to remove spent primers than live ones for me. Live ones i have to smack the bolt with my hand but spent ones open easily and fall out.

Thats weird. I was worried about mine and spent primers. Im using cci fwiw

First I should say that I am assuming the primer is sticking in the bolt not in the BP after ignition.

The most probable reason that the primer is sticking in the bolt face is:

1. The powder charge and bullet and even the primer are creating so much back pressure the actual primer is backing out of the primer cup and being forced back inside the hammer hole in the face of the bolt.  You may, most often, clear the primer by lifting and closing the bolt handle - then pull the trigger the hammer most often will drive the primer back into the battery cup of the primer then it might/should fall out correctly.

Another reason this may happen, and it is accelerated with a magnum primer, is the flash channel is nearly plugged and may need cleaned.  I am assuming you have a Knight bare primer breech plug in the rifle.  So you are not able to remove the Vent Liner from the nose of the Breech Plug.  The Lehigh/Knight breech plug is built to use a regular primer - even when shooting BH powder.

Cleaning the Flash Channel in the BP is essential at some point. This pic shows what I am talking about.



This pic shows a drill bit installed in the BP and the drill is turned by hand to grind/cut out the carbon in the channel.  With a Knight BP or even a Lehigh BP you will need a 5/32 drill bit.

I just build a tool for this process. "A Bit on a Stick"

Same rifle, my red plastic jackets are sticking to the breech plug after ignition, and I often have to pry them off with a small screw driver.  Any ideas?

Couple of questions?

Which powder are you shooting?
Which primer are you shooting?
Which bullet - mainly what weight?
Are the RPJ's that are sticking new ones or re-used?
Do you possibly have another RPJ breech plug?
Next my assumption you loft the bolt handle but you are not able to pull it back?

My initial thought was that maybe you need to polish the nipple post back to new condition.

I have not shot a lot of RPJ's but I have never a had that problem.

Great idea to compare!  I also have a Knight Ultralight, so I just pulled both breech plugs to compare.  The nipple post on the Disc Extreme plug was definitely sticky.  The RPJ just falls off the Ultralight plug.  So I am now re-cleaning and polishing the Disc Extreme nipple post.  Still a little sticky, but already better.

Great idea to compare!  I also have a Knight Ultralight, so I just pulled both breech plugs to compare.  The nipple post on the Disc Extreme plug was definitely sticky.  The RPJ just falls off the Ultralight plug.  So I am now re-cleaning and polishing the Disc Extreme nipple post.  Still a little sticky, but already better.   

That post really needs to be smooth if there is anything the hot plastic can latch on to - IT WILL.
