Moses Lake Ducks

Just seeing if there are any reports from the upper columbia basin/potholes?  Thinking about possibly making a morning trip to the ranch to knock the rust off the gun if this front carried any birds down?  Thank you.

My son, Nephew and I had a good day yesterday. We tucked in out of the wind, and placed our decoys in a "calm" corner of a pond, and managed a mixed bag 13 by 10am. Went back out in the afternoon to a different place, and got one more greenhead. Had a flock of geese come in and completely choked....Nephew & I missed, and my sons gun jammed... :dunno: We think he is somehow depressing the button on the forearm of his super nova causing the jam? I think he might be in the market for a new hunting shotgun... :chuckle: So much fun with the boys chasing waterfowl.

Had our two man of mallards and one gadwall by 8 this morning.  Not a ton of birds yet but lots of high flocks from the North as we were picking up.  Northern birds sure do it right.  Passed on a couple limits of Gadwalls early on waiting for mallards.  Next weekend could be real good!

We haven't been out...dang OT. Lots of geese, not sure if that big movement of ducks is still around. I haven't noticed them, but that doesn't mean they aren't here. A lot of the ponds/puddles froze this week. Appear to be open again now. Another cold snap coming in could lock things up again.

Was out last weekend, substantially more mallards than the week before.  Birds weren't decaying too well, probably from overcast conditions and no wind.  Were picking things over hard.  Got limits saturday and sunday with a little effort.  Not sure if anything is frozen up now, but last weekend everything where I was at was wide open.

Anyone have a recent update on potholes water level and general level of activity near the potholes?

A lot of small water iced over, lots of action. Not sure about fog conditions.

Thanks for the info. Is there still a lot duck movement? Someone mentioned the ducks had slowed down but geese were still moving.

This time of year you just got to go and hunt! By the time you hear about the action online it's already over. Go have fun!

We had some good luck this past weekend, just shy of our two man limit pass shooting in the fog on Saturday. Warmer weather on sunday completely changed our game up with the birds staying high. Just got to get out there.

Fog was nasty Friday and saturday.  Got hammered with the Covid saturday but was out friday.  Pretty good amount of shooting in the area but with it so foggy couldn't see any actual flights.
