Have one built exactly how you want it at a local fab shop for 1/2 the cost.

I built mine using 50. in material and 10 for door gasket. Octagon in shape 14x14 with a 12x12 door. will burn all night and will boil water faster than at home. i even make pancakes on it. I added a water heater to the side of it last summer for breakfast and to keep the air from being to dry.  :twocents:

I realize not everyone can or has the equipment thats why i say draw it up and go to a fab shop. they love building cool stuff like this.

Wood stove options for wall tent

Have you considered building a barrel stove? It’s by far the cheapest and easiest option. They sell a simple kit for them for like 50$. I used a barrel the next size down from 55 gallon (30 gallon maybe?) just because i didn't want to lug around a 55 gallon drum and also I figured a 55 gallon would get too hot for my 10x14 tent.
But the kit is super simple to install, all you need is a drill and a grinder with a few cutoff wheels. Your chimney stand, the legs and the door screw into place once you’ve cut the openings, then just buy some single wall 5” chimney pipe at the hardware store and you’re in business. I also threw a chunk of expanded metal and a few shovel fills of dirt in there to keep the bottom from burning out.
I bet it took me less than 30 minutes to put it all together. And after a few burns and getting familiar with the chimney dampener and the vent on the door you can dial them in pretty good. Once I get the tent heated up I can really crank it down to where it’s just on the verge of smoking inside the tent and it’ll hold a fire for 6 hours. Granted, it’s not much of a fire after 6 hours but a few sticks of kindlin gets it right back up and burning.

I built a barrel stove out of a 35 gallon drum in H.S. shop class. Flat top, peanut butter jar lids for air vent covers that screwed in to close. Used a wire welder.  My parents then used it to heat the small wall tent they lived in all winter in N. Idaho. The following spring, we moved them into a large,  double-wall tent, built a floor, and they lived in that for another 4.5 years. Different stove.

I have one of the first stoves from the guy in Oregon. Its nearly 20 years old now and in great shape. I give it a new layer of high heat paint every year.  If i where you i would just contact him. He will build you anything you want. Tell him you want a lighter smaller stove. See what he can come up with

After much thought to the stove I believe I have made my decision to go with the Four Dog stove company Lil Dog DX. It is portable enough at 38 pounds stove only and everyone that has them seems to like them. So I won’t be too worried about someone getting hurt moving it around camp. Also with a 20 inch length on the stove should work fine for most of the wood I have available. I will place the order soon and anxiously wait to receive. I did set up the new tent and really like it. Being a 10x12 this stove should work well. Also just received a stove fan in the mail to circulate the heat. And have all the wood for seasons stacked and stored nice and dry ready to go. I appreciate the info and tips everyone had to offer.

Excellent

I might suggest a metal drip pan from Walmart under the new stovefor those embers that sometimes fall out during loading. Cheap and easy insurance. I record all the places I have camped with the tent on mine.

I will be sure to get one of those. Great idea to protect the floor.
