Not to side track but I wonder how well this would work around structures like a cabin... As in how long the cotton balls would last before having to be replaced

If itís a getaway cabin Iíd use pure peppermint like ghost said, and would use tampons to hold more liquid.

I will give it a try for sure. Last summer I fought mice and worked hard at closing up as many entry spots as I could but I am sure there are more. Any additional ways to help fend them off I am all about.

We use three methods and we are making serious headway at our cabin.

1.  Mothballs.....lots and lots of mothballs.  They are cheap and they work.
2.  Poison (just one bite).  You can buy it locally at Coastal Farm and Ranch
3.  Rodent spray (which has peppermint and other smells / deterrents).  We spray this all over our quads, SxS, Tractor ect. to keep the wires from getting chewed.  We buy it by the gallon on amazon.

I have poison outside and traps inside. Hoping to add another layer of defense when I get up there here soon and see how that goes. The peppermint oil idea sounds like it could be beneficial
