Peep sight placement, and proper sight picture
« on: June 18, 2024, 04:45:43 PM »
Hello

I have recently bought a Williams Western Precision muzzle loader peep kit and this is my first experience using a peep sight.

My rifle is a knight ultralite 50cal

I am curious on a few things, what is best practice for placement of the rear peep? I can mount it in front of OR behind the breach opening and depending on where i place it the sight picture changes dramatically.

If i place it rear of the breech, I can see the entire front globe sight and it fits just inside the visible limits of the peep.

If I place it forward of the breech, i no longer can see the outer ring of the globe sight, and the peep and globe sight line up perfectly and all i see visually is the crosshairs/fiber optic centered in the sight picture.

Which is the correct sight picture?

Thanks for any info here

The deer are exactly where you find them, and no where you dont!

I mounted mine on the last 2 screw holes behind the breech for my Knight.

I also removed the inner ring on the peep to give me a full clear view of my globe.

I also made a vinyl ring around my globe, and is exceptional for me. I'd recommend it to try out to get some contrast between the 2 black circles.

I'd say whatever you like best and are most comfortable with and you can repeat your alignment exactly everytime is best.
